In another example of a school-business partnership, I found an article in January’s Midwest Manufacturing News describing how OSG Tap & Die of Glendale Heights, IL, is donating over $85,000 worth of tooling and training aids, such as safety glasses and wall/pocket decimal charts, to three iNAM consortium schools: College of DuPage, Joliet Junior College, and College of Lake County. OSG Tap & Die, a subsidiary of OSG Corporation of Japan, decided to donate some extra tooling and the training aids to the three schools as their contribution towards the manufacturing technology programs there. According to Mike Grzybowski, OSG West Central Regional Manager, “By giving these cutting tools to the colleges, OSG is providing students with the opportunity to be trained with industry-proven, high quality tooling, and OSG also enables the schools to save valuable funds that are not always available.” What a wonderful donation!
